Back in early November, I hiked the Devil’s Den Trail (the cave trail) again at Devil’s Den State Park.

Twin Falls on Devil's Den Trail

The Devil’s Den Trail is one of the most-popular trails in Arkansas. It is the best way to see many of the cave and rock features that make Devil’s Den State Park unique.

This 1.3-mile loop is easy-to-moderate with only one significant uphill climb.

Cedar Creek Trail Along Cedar Creek

When I visited Petit Jean State Park in August, I also hiked the Cedar Creek Trail. This 1.1-mile loop trail starts at the Pioneer Cabin and is a pleasant walk along Cedar Creek.

Cedar Falls Trailhead

In August, I hiked the Cedar Falls Trail at Petit Jean State Park. The .9-mile non-loop trail (1.8-miles total) starts behind the Mather Lodge and then heads downhill for .3 miles or so to Cedar Creek.

The trail then follows Cedar Creek until reaching the gorgeous Cedar Falls cavern.

The climb back up to Mather Lodge is strenuous so don’t be in too big of a hurry on the way back.

Ouachita Trail 03-AB – Queen Wilhelmina to Hwy 88

Saturday, I hiked what I have labeled as segments 03-A and 03-B of the Ouachita Trail. This is a 2.5 mile section that begins at Queen Wilhelmina State Park and continues East until it intersects with Highway 88 (of the Talimena Scenic Drive). The first half-mile or so it is the same as the State Park’s Lover’s Leap Trail.

It’s not that difficult a trail segment overall. There is some up and down climbing, but there are also long stretches on a relatively level ridge.

As you would expect, the trail has some great views from Rich Mountain.
