Read more … Nebo Steps (.1 mile) and Nebo Springs (.3 miles) are two short trails at Mt. Nebo State Park which connect the rim and bench levels of the mountain. (See here for more about the two levels.) This hike makes a .7-mile loop of the two trails.
Approximate elevation profile based on GPS data. This is from west to east. [Update 2012-02-26: I have added a photo from a February 2012 visit to the south Rim Trail.] Even though I have hiked at Mount Nebo State Park, near Russellville, Arkansas, quite a few times, Saturday was my first time to hike the entire Rim Trail loop. It was very enjoyable.
Approximate elevation profile based on gps data. The Bench Trail at Mount Nebo State Park is overall one of the easiest hikes I have done. This 3.7 mile loop trail originally was a road. The vast majority of it could still pass for a road as it is rather level and wide. For that reason, it is pretty popular with mountain bikers.
