Ouachita Trail on Rich Mtn. Between Highway 88 and 270/59
Yesterday on New Year’s Eve, I hiked what I have labeled as segments 03-C and 03-D of the Ouachita Trail. This is a 2.6 mile section that extends from Highway 88 (of the Talimena Scenic Drive) near Queen Wilhelmina State Park towards the East to a trailhead (with parking) on Highway 270.
I started at the Highway 270 trailhead.

It was pretty up at the top of Rich Mountain, but the view from the south side of the mountain is more scenic. On my way back, I noticed that the trail is quite a bit wider and easier to walk at the lower elevations.
